Are ballpark hot dogs gluten-free?
It depends on the brand, and the bun is the bigger problem. Of the 15 hot dog makers we checked, 8 say on their own websites that their franks are gluten-free or have no gluten. A regular hot dog bun is made with wheat.
Ball Park franks: Ball Park makes no gluten-free claim. None of the 12 franks on its website (beef, Angus, prime beef, classic, turkey and jalapeño) names wheat, barley, rye or malt in its ingredients (four list maltodextrin, which is not malt), but the pages say nothing about gluten, so read the package before you rely on it. Comerica Park’s 2026 allergy guide marks its Ball Park Franks “GLUTEN FREE”. That stadium frank is a different recipe from the retail packs (turkey, pork and beef), and the gluten-free bun is only at Big League Grill 108, 130, 213 and 325.
13 of the 30 MLB ballparks we cover list a gluten-free or gluten-friendly bun, and 10 more list a hot dog or sausage for people avoiding gluten, or one without a bun. A label is not a kitchen check, so ask staff about shared grills and cross-contact.

Each maker’s own words about its franks, checked on its website on October 14, 2026. A stadium may not serve the same product, so ask which hot dog the stand uses.

A hot dog is only as gluten-free as its bun. Regular buns are made with wheat, so the stand needs a separate gluten-free bun, or you can ask for the hot dog without one.
The grill matters too. Stands often heat franks and buns on the same grill or in the same steamer. The Celiac Disease Foundation suggests asking “Do you clean the grill before preparing gluten-free food?” and “Does bread come with my dish?” before you order.
The FDA’s standard for a gluten-free label is under 20 parts per million of gluten. A maker’s claim covers its packaged franks, not how a stand handles them.
The brand at a ballpark changes with sponsorship deals. MLB named Nathan’s Famous its official hot dog in 2017, the Miami Marlins named Sahlen’s their official hot dog in 2025, and Vienna Beef announced in 2024 that it is the only hot dog sold at Kauffman Stadium. Ask which brand the stand serves.

Are Ball Park franks gluten-free?

Which MLB ballparks have gluten-free hot dog buns?
13 of the 30 MLB ballparks we cover list a gluten-free or gluten-friendly bun for hot dogs or sausages: American Family Field, Angel Stadium, Busch Stadium, Citi Field, Citizens Bank Park, Comerica Park, Great American Ball Park, Kauffman Stadium, Oracle Park, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, PNC Park, Tropicana Field and Wrigley Field. 10 more list a hot dog or sausage for people avoiding gluten with the bun not stated, or one without a bun. Which hot dog brands say they are gluten-free?
On their own websites, Hebrew National, Boar’s Head, Dietz & Watson, Hofmann, Kayem, Koegel, Sabrett, and Zweigle’s say their franks are gluten-free or have no gluten. Hofmann excludes its two beer bratwursts. We checked each site on October 14, 2026.
Is a stadium hot dog safe if I have celiac disease?
A label can’t tell you. A gluten-free frank can still touch a wheat bun, tongs, or a shared grill. Ask staff about the bun, the grill, and cross-contact before you order.
